Our journey with Lewy Body dementia and parkinson disease #1 beginning

Late in the year of 2023 my hubby started loosing a lot of weight for no reason just not hungry.  Once in a while he complained that his stomach was hurting.  So we scheduled doctor appointments ....doctors checked him out, ran blood work, scans, MRI's, etc....and every test came back nothing was wrong.  He was fine.  So we would leave and I would notice things...something just wasn't right.  Also, son kept noticing that his Dad's hand would shake sometimes....then his eye began to twitch....so I took him to the eye doctor and he was fine.  Again more MRI's and nothing wrong.  The eye kept twitching and the hand kept shaking.

Our primary doctor said "Well, we can send him through a bunch of tests, but the out come will be the same".  Nothing we can do.  I wanted answers.

So, a few months later in about November hubby almost collapsed at Walmart while walking.  He was sick.  I brought him home and he went into the bathroom and immediately came out and said "take me to the hospital I have a big bulge on my side"...it looked like a balloon under his skin.  We ran to the ER...there they found it was a hernia....the doctor had hubby rest and then he took his hands and pushed it back in.

We were then to be scheduled for surgery later on.....but they could only get us in 8 weeks out.  So we came home and a few days later it came out again....off to the ER again and the ER doctor could not get it back in.  No empty beds at our local hospital, no surgeons and hubbies blood pressure was extreme to they gave him morphine for pain and then tried to get the blood pressure down.  They couldn't so decided to send us on a 2 hour ambulance drive to another city who would take hubby.

When we got to the Kootenai hospital....the ER doctor there got the hernia back in.  They kept hubby over night and said there was nothing they could do and sent him back home.

We were home a few days and the hernia came out again....this time the surgeon decided he was going to get hubby in for surgery.  Hubby went through 3 hour surgery and the hernia was taken care of.

After the hernia episode....hubby changed....he became more feeble, more confused, more weak..etc. Back to the doctor again, but this time our kids wanted us to change doctors and go the 2 hour drive to a primary doctor and start with him.  When we got there our new doctor listened and started scheduling us for many specialist.  But no none in the 2-3 hour radius was taking new patients for the neurologist.  We got on a waiting list to get into one 6 hours away near where our daughter lives.
