Spring project---Ugly vintage 50's Step Stool

It seems I don't even have to look for projects for the upcoming Spring, all I have to do is leave my house.  I have been cleaning out cupboards and closets and slowly getting rid of things.  So today I was going to stop by St. Vincent DePaul Thrift store and leave a couple bags of clothing and misc dishes.  When I went inside to get my receipt there was this cool little old vintage 50's step stool.  I remember these from when I was a kid and the more I looked at it the more it pulled me to buying it

After asking hubby what color we can't decide whether to paint it yellow, red or white.  I think I might wait until I get the vinyl for the seat and back and then decide what color to work with.  

Will be a nice item for our vendor show this summer.  Right now we are on the calendar for 3 "The Rusty Cupboard" vendor shows.  Daughter and I will be busy selling again this year, last year we took the year off and didn't attend any showings.  But we are coming back with a whole lot of new items

Today January 6, 2013 I started working on re-modeling this step stool.  It is so hard for me to understand why some one would take black paint and spray paint over chrome legs.  So I am taking a paint remover  and brushing it on and scrapping off the old black paint.  This will be a long hard job.  But I can already see the chrome shining through.  Hubby will remove the seats and flat part of steps.  I will then get the under part of the rods and remove all the paint there.  We will go to Joann's fabric store and get some real good vinyl and re-upholster  the seat and back in a red and white.

 We moved into our home about 15 years ago at that time we decided to place a walkway down through the yard to a firepit.  Our family loves to sit around the backyard fire and roast hotdogs and marshmallows.  We haven't done much to the walkway except spray it once in a while with weed kill but today we decided it was time to remove and repair.  So we began to dig out the bricks..it was amazing how some were buried and some were broken.  They all were beginning to sink down deeper and deeper. There was a lot of moss that had even grown over the top of them.  But hubby and I worked together and got them all dug up.  The pathway went from the deck to the firepit ring.  All of these bricks have been recycled we would watch for free ones.  Sometimes just driving down the road there would be bricks with a sign take all you want.  So some of these bricks have different says on them.  We also enjoy using our dutch ovens....

  Well I am setting in my truck in a parking lot. Alone, quiet, trying not to even think. I am not mad and not crying ....Just me. Today has been a hard one. Hubby woke up not feeling good. Back hurts, head hurts, dizzy, thinks he is going to faint etc. So he was just resting. Youngest son Jeremy came up with the kids to change batteries in his jeep. Replacing the old one with new. So I went outside with him and so did hubby. Brent got a tool and started helping and I was watching the kids ride their scooters when hubby sets down so I go to help son. I look at Brent and he starts crying and begins to yell. He is not stupid and he's not a dummy. Crying and yelling. I said "what no one says you are one"...that made things worse.....he stands up and throws down his tools and marches around all mad and melting down. If I said anything it got worse. Son says "mom don't take it personally" dad just stop. Brent looks at him and goes up the steps. ...

  We have been blessed with the best kids. Always there for us. Sometimes almost to much. I lean on them for so many things and lately so many decisions. I was told by a family member.. not my kids.. that I lean to hard on them, they have their own families to take care of also. Kinda was a slap in the face thing. Because I know it is true. Today the selling of our home fell through...so have to start all over again. Things are tight out there and money is hard to come by. Yes, I cried. I turned to the kids and said "ok, now what". Then I felt so bad. I laid all of this on them. Hubby has no clue and only smiles when I tell him. So the only thing I can do is "go to the rock".....the song goes... Where do I go? When there's nobody else to turn to Who do I talk to? When nobody wants to listen Who do I lean on?
