Hand quilted panel of pumpkins and little red truck

Image
Finally got the throw, blanket or wall hanging done.  This can be used as any of them.  I purchased a panel and added fiberfill and backing.  I began to hand quilt stitch all around different objects.  As I hand quilted it made the picture become dimensional.  So love the bright colors in it.  Love these kinds of things for the holidays and enjoy doing the hand work.  It relaxs me and I then enjoy what is created when I am done.  Notice how the pumpkins stand out here as I finished working on them.  I try to make the back as pleasing as I can but still work my way through all three thicknesses. Fall is beginning to arrives so I took the throw out and placed in one of my rod iron rocking chairs for the pictures.  The sun was shining and it was just a beautiful day to take pictures in.

Making a trash hauler out of an old vintage seed spreader

Image
Grandkids and I went shipping today to the thrift stores, we were just out killing time and I also have been on the look out for something that I could make over.  We go camping quite a bit and we are always a long ways away from the campsites trash cans.  So I wanted to get something vintage that I could work over and make my own.  So grandson took the extra metal strip to make the blades move off and then we removed the blades inside the spreader...now we will place a metal strip over the axles and make it safe for little fingers to reach the garbage sack. The color of our 1967 vintage Bell camper is sunburst yellow by rustoleum.  I love, love, love the color.  So I after washing the spreader and giving it a good scrub.  I am now painting with a brush.  This will take at least 3 coats of paint. So finished painting used rustoleum sunburst yellow and silver...touch upped with rustoleum black. Added a plastic bin that can be taken out and washed lined with garbage bag.  As the

Finally getting new front steps

Hubby is out taking down the old crumbly cement steps that were way to small and falling apart. We found in the old days they used way to much rock and not much cement. Now you need more cement to last longer, but to remove the old he had to rent a jack hammer and work like crazy. As he did loosen the rocks I would gather them and place in the rock garden.  End up with quite a few rocks after he was done. Contractor came and then he laid out the boards for the cement to be placed in.  Had to make sure it was nice and tight so the cement would not run out, as we were making these steps 6 inches deep with cement. Cement truck arrived and began dumping all the fresh made cement.  Was a lot of fun to watch the process of getting new steps. Grandson came over to lend a hand. He worked hard helping out but also learned a few tricks in the process. The hardest part was trying to get the cement nice and level.  They used a long board and slide it across the top and the

Family Camping and fishing trip

Image
Was so fun getting 17 people together for a camping fishing trip.  We all reserved through ReserveAmerica and got 5 sites.  Everyone brought their campers and tents and we all had the best time.  This was our site our "Maizy Bell"...she is a 1967 Bell camper 13 feet long including the hitch.  My brother Chet and his camper and pickup all ready for the weekend.  Daughter and son in law with their new tent camper.  First time camping in it.  Camp breakfast in the cast iron dutch ovens....always a favorite for our family.  Always takes at least two dutch ovens to make enough.  Setting around the campfire and watching this beautiful sunset was just the best for the day.

Beautiful White and Pink Peonies

Image
Don't you just love Peonies?  I have so many around our house....they just get so tall and fill out so big.  Then the blossoms...  The blossoms are just amazing...bigger than my hand. Stand so tall and then the wind comes up and down they go.....mine are white with just specks of pink and then at the end I have one red plant.  This  year it came up big and tall and had about 5 blossoms on it.  The smell is just amazing also.  The ones around our wagon spread out all over the fence.  Last year a man stopped by and asked if he could pick a couple for his wife.  He said he was laid off and no money and it was his wife's birthday. So hubby and I said ok go ahead.  This year he came back and asked again.  We asked how he was doing and he said real good a nice job and money coming in.   So why then do you need to pick our flowers....He said "because they are pretty".  So we said "no not this year".  We really don't want him to make a habit of pi

Memorial Weekend

Image
Do you ever stop at some of the old time museum's out there?  We went back to our home town Weippe, Idaho for the Memorial weekend to work on hubby's parents graves.  We like to clean them and add flowers.  Stopped at this little museum that was established in 1999.  All the history and cool items in there. After the fun of looking at all the items.  They had a baked food sale and a small lunch.  Was just a great day.

Starting out a new venture

Image
We are starting out a new adventure we are consigning in with a Tourist Trap store in Riggins, Idaho.  WE will be selling some of our pallet America Land of the Free signs and our Police Pallet Signs.  So many items in her store and we just loved stopping and browsing through it...she is also carrying our gift baskets of our homemade hand soap and hand crocheted wash cloths.  Signing all the papers and making it all official.  A couple of our signs are ready to be placed in their new home here.  Checking out all her items and finding many wonderful things to buy. Even granddaughter Chey is finding some pretty cool jewelry.
