Hand Crocheted Mint Green table doily
Was asked the other day if I could crochet a friend a doily. Well, I crochet all the time but usually use yarn. Been many years since I used size 10 thread. So I found a pattern and started to crochet.
Had this mint green yarn in my stash of craft items in the basement craft room. So mint green it will be. This is the pineapple stitch doily. After about 5 minutes I was off and going.
The hardest part for me is seeing the tiny stitches and always having to count.
Well then I remembered I had to block it after getting it done so I googled it to see what was best. The one most people said was to use elmers glue and water half and half. So I proceeded to block this one. And now I regret it so will have to wash and start all over. Yes the glue stiffened it but to much. It will not fold down on the table just lays there and stiff.
So did more research and found to use just water and poster board and straight pins. So I was off and love the look now it shows my stitches and still will move when placed on the table it folds down over the edges and looks great.
So then I proceeded to put a bowl of Easter grass on the doily...another big mistake it glows in the pictures and looks funny. The good thing is mistakes will happen and its all about how we deal with them. This doily is in our shop for sale...check us out on etsy.

I always use size 10 crochet thread when making doilies. Also I love my size 7 crochet hook.
For me it is so much easier to print my patterns off so then I can mark them up as I go...hope this helps you when you work on your master piece...enjoy..
