just stopping by

Been awhile since I visited my blog.  So much to do now a days.  We are remodeling a pop up camper, our house, working in yard, babysitting grandkids and working.  So life just keeps going on and sometimes things get way ahead of us...

New Project...Refinishing Oak Bar Stools

Image
BEFORE PICTURE: AFTER PICTURE: My new project.  Picked these up for like nothing at a Country Thrift Store while traveling to visit our daughter who lives about 6 hours away.  We had a great time and at every little country town we stopped and checked out the thrift stores.  We finally found these two bar stools that twirl.  They are very solid and made from real oak wood.  I love the look of oak the grain of the wood stands out so pretty.  These stools I am having a hard time trying to decide whether to sand and refinish in a dark walnut stain so the wood stands out but in the popular dark wood color or to sand and paint white and antique them.  Family members are divided in which way to go.  Either way I won't be keeping these, they will soon be sold at our next vendor showing in Boise at Idaho's Largest Yard Sale.

First Sale for 2013 was Fantastic

Image
My house just getting ready to load the truck.  The sale wasn't far from my house but it took me 4 truck loads to get it all over to the building.  Once I got there I realized we had an 8'x8' booth and I knew then we were in trouble.  They had the building divided up so nice.  I was one of the first to arrive and it was cool just see it waiting to be loaded up.  I started and other vendors would come by and say "no way will you get it all in there".  I packed it in the best way to go was up.  So I went up as high as the items would stay standing.  Packed until there was just a little 2 foot isle to walk inside the booth.  One person at a time.  But it wasn't long and I was having to move items to fill in blank spaces.  The top items came down and the sale was on.  We sold and sold, my husband, and two grandkids.  We all dressed with orange shirts and had a blast.  Every year I try to keep ...

Vintage 1960 "Sunny Suzy" ironing board

Image
I purchased this little ironing board, with it's original cover and iron from the lady who purchased it in 1960. She had it put away for her daughter who never got to use it.  So it was kinds sad for her to sell it but I just fell in love with the bright colors of it.  The legs are a little stiff to put up and down, and a little tarnish in places but just a fun little item.  This was back when little ones used to watch their momma's iron.  Not to much of that being done now-a-days, but a great item. This one is newer and I find it's just a great little one, it also comes with an extra holder for the iron.  So sweet and they both can be folded down flat. These will be on sale on a couple web sites and also if still available at the Nez Perce Fair Building on February 16, 2012 at our first vendor showing for the year....

Vintage Child"s Rocking Chair

Image
I found this adorable child's rocking chair at a flea market.  I have had it sitting around and couldn't decide whether I wanted to sand it and re-paint it or just  leave it.  I finally decided I love the patina that is already on it.  It has the wood, some old red paint and then this teal blue paint on it.  Just adorable and looks it's age. I then decided it needed a little touch of color so I made this little cushion for it that has ties on the back to hold it in place.  This cute chair will be at the NezPerce Indoor Yard sale in February 16, 2013 and will sell for only $15.00.
